News from the Spellbinder Meeting

Hello Tellers! At our next meeting (Potluck!) on June 6, I will share what I learned at the Spellbinder Annual Meeting.
However, I just had to share some of the interesting things:

There were over 150 people in attendance at the Annual meeting in Golden.
The workshops were energizing and fun, the lunch was delicious, and the presentation by Judith Black (Elena and the Black Geese) and several other tales were hysterical! Judith also did an insightful presentation on all the ways storytelling impacts the multiple intelligences of how kids learn.

The business meeting over lunch focused on the 25th anniversary of Spellbinders. The 25 Days of Storytelling has 3 goals;
1 .Build widespread name recognition throughout Colorado

2. Increase community recognition for Spellbinders in the schools we serve

3. Recruit volunteers

There are many chapters actively raising money for the organization. My favorite was Soup Stories to Warm the Soul organized by Spellbinders in Larimer County. Money raised is targeted to be spent on providing hands-on personal help to chapters. I’ll have more on the 25th anniversary events and discussion at our next meeting in June.

But the most memorable event at the meeting was to hear Germaine speak about Spellbinders and the difference it is making in the lives of the children it touches. It was very heart warming and motivating to be a part of this organization.

More to share at the next meeting. Hope to see you!
